The Vine is opening on 7th January, 2017, at Linden House, 1 – 3 Silver Street, Stansted Mountfitchet.

New Food and Organic Wine Experience.

We don’t have any sommeliers in Essex, but now we have a dining room where you can seek the advice of an in-house wine expert.

Tanya Mann, Dip WSET, wine judge of IWSC (International Wine and Spirit Competition), a certified educator in Sherry Wines, who has worked for 17 years in the international wine industry, and her businessman husband, Stephen Mann, are opening The Vine – Bar & Eno Dining in the ancient village of Stansted Mounthfitchet near Bishops’ Stortford and Stansted Airport, Essex – and only 40 miles from central London.

Wine and food lovers are in for a special treat: the international wine connoisseur and her husband are opening Britain’s second eno-restaurant. The couple are using their talents to provide a unique eating experience: a combination of wine tasting and fine dining (hence the phrase eno-dining).

‘I believe that understanding what we are drinking helps us to appreciate and enjoy the whole experience more. Nowadays, people care more about their health and well-being, and we offer wines, for example, both to drink in and take away, that are produced  by organic viticulture, using fewer chemical additives during the wine-making process,’ says Tanya, who is a committee member of prestigious Circle of Wine Writers.

Stephen, a former restaurant manager, is a director of several multi-million pound companies and a business lecturer in hospitality at schools in Italy. ‘We are hoping locals, holidaymakers and business travellers will come along and enjoy our “English cuisine with a twist” accompanied by some carefully selected, award-winning wines. Diners can assess our chef’s skills on the first Saturday of each month, when we offer a taster menu of 8 courses – good food and perfectly chosen wines to complement each course. A symphony for your palate.’

Tanya, who tasted more than 8000 wines last year, says: ‘There are many amazing wines from old vines, which combine great quality with unique complexity. Our wine-producing partners are careful to protect the environment while producing their crops and send us wines from ‘the hands of nature’.

‘We also want to pay great attention to those English Sparkling Wine producers who are currently winning international awards for their wines, which is why their bubbly will available by the glass. We are aiming to introduce more fine wines that I have sourced from across the globe and make The Vine recognised as a centre for wine connoisseurs and English culture lovers.’
