The Vine Restaurant and Bar

An amazing dining experience…

that won’t break the bank!

If you are staying with us, why not drink and dine with us in our Vine restaurant and bar. You’re in for a tasty treat!

Following their success of their first restaurant “The Vine in Great Bardfield”, restauranteur and chef Steve Mann and wine connoisseur Tanya Mann have brought their special brand of Eno-dining to Linden House.

Wine and food lovers are in for a special treat at one Britain’s first ‘eno-dining’ establishments.  By combining the highest quality food with our unique wine tasting experience, we provide a unique gastronomic experience, hence the phrase eno-dining.We start with the very best quality ingredients, and then prepare and cook them with care to enhance the textures and flavours.

Our in-house wine connoisseur has selected a range of organic wines to perfectly complement your food, ensuring that you have a unique and highly enjoyable dining experience that won’t break the bank or leave you with a hang-over!

The events at The Vine not surprisingly revolve around the subjects of food and wine, and include themed evenings and lunches, wine tastings, presentations from wine critics and vineyard owners, and lots more. Check out our events page!

What is ENO Dining?

The Manns philosophy, to receive a completely pleasurable dining experience, the food must be matched with the perfect wine – hence of eno logo.
Surprisingly, unlike in the USA or Italy, the ancient Greek word  oinos (later simplify to “eno”) has never really entered the British gastronomic vocabulary.

‘To draw attention to the fact that we will suggest the perfect wines to match your choice of food,’ explains Tanya Mann, international wine writer. ‘The prefix ‘Eno’ is often used in the USA , Italy and elsewhere; it’s a common abbreviation of ‘Oeno’, from the Greek, indicating anything related to wine. In Italy, a wine shop is often  called an enoteca, for example.

‘From December 1st, when we arrived here, we have had our new wine list available and it has proved very popular. From January 7th this will be extended and a menu designed to show how these wines are wonderful when matched to the right  food. We hope that the people of Stansted and our guests at the hotel will find the experience as good as did our diners at the Vine in Great Bardfield.’
